Chicken of the Sea Genova Tonno 3 Ounce Tins (Pack of 24)

Best canned tuna out there5

Unless you're a health nut tuna in olive oil is almost always preferable to that in water. And Genova is the best of the normally priced ones. (there are some super-expensive imported brands in a jar but they cost as much as fresh tuna) For a quick meal I like to open a can over a salad mix complete with the oil then add some fresh lemon juice salt and pepper and that's it! A quick delicious healthy meal.More detail ...

Ortiz Bonito Del Norte - White Tuna in Olive Oil 4-Ounce Tins (Pack of 4)

I'm from Spain; before Amazon I had to bring it from home!5

Well the title says it all. I grew up eating this kind of tuna and since I've been in the US (2003) I've had to bring it from home. The tuna found in grocery stores here in the US tastes very different; it almost has no taste. My wife (an American) could not understand why I insisted on home tuna until she had it. Now there is no going back for her either. The flavor is rich and the meat is not just shreds. Enjoy...More detail ...

Wild Planet Sustainably Caught Wild Skipjack Light Tuna 5 Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

Excellent canned tuna5

This is a very good choice for canned tuna. The taste is excellent. The texture is far superior to typical "supermarket" chunk light canned tuna brands (have you noticed in recent years they seem like a can of sawdust instead of chunks of tuna?). While it isn't quite as "moist" as tuna packed in oil it is far more "moist" than tuna packed in water. There is some liquid in the can (but far less than in cheaper brands or water packed tuna) but the liquid is literally just tuna juices like a tuna broth - no added water or oils are added. I don't even drain the juice off I simply mix it back in while flaking the tuna; the juicy broth is reabsorbed. All the omega-3 fatty acids are retained this way - why discard all that goodness down the drain?Wild Planet wild skipjack light tuna consists of larger and firm filet chunks yet easily flakes with a fork.

I could buy this very same tuna at a local store but at much higher per can cost. I prefer the convenience and lower cost of case buying via Amazon it's always ready for an easy and nutritious meal or snack my 5th grader can prepare himself or when I need multiple cans to make tuna casserole tuna skillet pie or loaf tuna patties or tuna fritters for the family. When I get down to the third can I reorder for fast free Prime delivery to my door. Saves time effort and money.

As far as I've been able to determine (subject to change if I learn otherwise) if one is buying canned tuna this is a good choice for sustainability (better catch methods) and lower mercury (smaller tuna species). The can lining is BPA-free too.More detail ...

Wild Planet Wild Albacore Tuna Minimal Mercury 6-Ounce Cans (Pack of 6)

Politically Correct Fish - Smells Good Too5

Or should I say it's not too fishy; this according to my wife equipped as she is with an ultra keen olfactory capability.

Looking at the label you know right away that this isn't any ordinary tin of tuna. "Minimal mercury" it proclaims. "Troll caught". This would seem to be a good method to capture these bad boys because you guessed it they are "Wild".

All this seemed a bit too much like hype so I checked out the Wild Planet web site and came across even more political correctness. There we read "Wild Planet Inc. is dedicated to the conservation of wild marine ecosystems. The preservation of biodiversity and the symbiotic interdependence of all life on this planet is a paramount concern to all future generations. At Wild Planet Inc. the long-term health of the wild biosphere takes priority. Balance in harvesting while preserving marine resources is the goal of Wild Planet Inc."

Hmm. This one paragraph uses the word "wild" five times...

But digging a bit deeper one recognizes that this isn't hype after all. For instance on the matter of "minimal mercury" we learn "The troll-caught albacore in the North Pacific fishery is lower in mercury because these migratory fish are smaller (about 9 to 25 pounds) and younger (three to five years old) than the long-line caught older fish that reach up to 70 pounds after ten to fifteen years of growth. Naturally the longer a fish lives and feeds the more it bio-accumulates mercury.

While all fish caught along the West Coast are low in mercury compared to overseas fish we have taken the quest to produce the safest possible product one step further. As our employees unload the fishermen's catch at our docks they separate the 9 to 12 pound fish from the rest of the load. We send these mostly three-year-old fish to our cannery in South Bend Washington. These are the only fish contained in the `minimal mercury' product. We call it "minimal mercury" because it is lower than low in mercury."

Now I'm impressed...

And how does this tuna taste? It's delicious - mild flakey but flavorful.

Highly recommended. You'll feel like you're saving the planet when you chomp down on that tuna fish sandwich.More detail ...

Yummy and Convenient4

Tune Fish Chicken of the Sea / B000YT38BK

This is a great small-sized can of tuna fish easy to take in a lunch box to work or school. The pull tab is easy to handle and means you don't have to lug around a can opener. The tuna is light and tasty and packed in water so you're not getting that heavy oily taste that some tunas have. I would prefer that Chicken of the Sea would put out an openly 'environmentally friendly' version - I couldn't find out much about their fishing procedures online and I am somewhat concerned about mercury levels but those concerns aside this is a very tasty product.

Nellie's PVC Free Dryer balls

OK These Things Are Just COOL!5

As Ms. Hilton says "That's Hot!"

I LOVE these dryer balls... I've only had them a few weeks now but they make my towels SO MUCH SOFTER in the dryer than all the smelly lack-luster liquid or sheet softeners combined over the past 20 + years I've been doing my own laundry.

Where I live it's hard to hang the wash outside for about 4-5 months a year such as during the Fall Winter and Spring. Between dust and dirt filled zephyrs and wet muddy dogs and ice snow and rain it's just much easier to use the dryer.

But I could never get my towels and wash cloths to feel as soft as when I first bought them. So after much hemming and hawing and a recommendation from a friend - and Amazon reviews - I broke down and bought these PVC Free dryer balls and I'm in love with the results.

If Nellie's Scent Sticks were available in any other fragrance than lavender I might purchase some. But for now the soft towels are just "my cup of tea!"More detail ...
